St. Louis, Here We Come!

If you don't see me online this week (or your email goes unanswered), it's because I'm attending our church's first mission trip to St. Louis. I'll join 3 other adults and 10 teens on a week filled with hard work, prayer, and fellowship. Look for a challenge post later this week and plenty of photos when I return. See you soon!

Farmer's Market Tote

It's that time of year again! Last summer my pal Cheryl introduced me to the art and thrill of the local farmer's market, and most of them are open again for the season. She has an awesome shop on Etsy called Purple Bow Crafts which features hand-knit items like this beautiful farmer's market tote. I can't wait to get out there to sort through fresh fruits and veggies then stock up on meats and other local ingredients. Handmade crafts + homegrown foods = happy me!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today I'm thankful for the many family and friends who make my life so special, the blessings we receive and the joy in sharing so much of it with you. Take time today to tell someone how much you love them - I know I will!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Priceless

As a scrapbooker I rarely end up in layouts because I usually take most of the photos. Thanks to a little photo shoot with my pal Celeste, I ended up with this awesome photo of me and the boys. Thanks so much, Celeste, for your time and talent!!

Good for the Soul

Do not adjust your monitor - that is NOT a scrapbook page or card...YET! This weekend I had the pleasure of attending a women's retreat with some dear friends from church. One of our activities was making Anglican prayer beads. I thoroughly enjoyed this project and loved my beads (shown above) and the fact that they were blessed before we left the retreat. Just thought I'd share since this is crafty and will most likely end up scrapbooked at some point in the near future. Have a blessed day!

A Family A-Faire

I got a chance to knock out this layout before 2008 winds to a close. I had some fun photos from the Renaissance Faire held at Conner Prairie back in October. Mind you, I still have a ton of photos from this event in 2007 that I want to put into a mini album...but that's a story for a whole different blog post! This layout uses an awesome sketch by Becky Fleck of PageMaps fame. She just plain rocks. Details for this layout are here.

Walk Down Memory Lane

In November I flew home to Pennsylvania with my son Matthew to help my mother recover from open heart surgery. While we were there I was able to share some childhood memories with Matthew - like walking down the wooded lane to the house. He sat in the tree where I escaped to read books as a child, and he jumped in piles of leaves from the very same tree. For me this trip was as much about connecting with him as it was about helping my mother. I am grateful for the family time we shared.

I made this layout using the November sketch by Di Hickman which was also her 1000th blog post. Isn't that wild? Congrats on all your hard work, Di - you are an inspiration to so many! Happy birthday wishes, too!

The coolest thing on this layout for me (besides the fun photo ♥ ) is the tree border cut with my new QuicKutz Silhouette. Click the photo for a closer look. Details for this layout are here.

Sweet Success!

Ian's second grade class made gingerbread houses today, so I was lucky enough to go along and help. It's so fun to hear the ideas of these kids - why they choose certain types of candy and how they turn them into architectural and landscaping details. We attended Conner Prairie's gingerbread event last weeked looking for ideas, so today was especially fun.

Here's Ian's finished house, complete with mailbox and raised flag. There's a patio in the backyard and plenty of snowballs. I wonder which one will taste the best?

Carmen and Jack

Who says that Halloween is just for kids? Scott and I decided to get in on the fun this year and attended a superb party on Friday dressed as Carmen Miranda and Captain Jack Sparrow. I'm fairly certain that this was both the first *and* last time that Scott wore more eye makeup than I did!!

Octoberville

Well, this is it! We are fully into the month of October which is my personal favorite of the entire year. If you have ever stood at the bus stop with me or walked through a pumpkin patch with my family, you know how I feel about blue skies, cooler temps, pumpkins and the smell of fall. I fully intend to build a dome over my property, climate control the entire thing, and charge admission to my own version of paradise, OCTOBERVILLE. Who's coming?

Well, until that happens, I'll have to take great pictures and scrap them to cherish these precious times. Here are the pictures we took of the boys at Potter's Bridge and Russell Farms, both located in Noblesville, IN.

Caliente!

Ok, I know I'm the mom, but how cute is THIS? Just when I think I have gotten the most adorable photo of my boys I end up with another new one. This one came from our most recent trip to Conner Prairie. If you're local to Indiana I highly recommend a visit.

Caardvarks has its new challenge called Caliente! posted today. Make a HOT card and link back to the 'Varks site by midnight on May 17th to be considered for a prize by Itty Bitty Scrap Shack. And since it's Cinco de Mayo today we're hoping you had lots of inspiration!

Have You Noticed?

In case you haven't noticed, it's spring! I grabbed a few photos of the boys enjoying the warm weather tonight. Be sure to check back in the next few weeks - you are bound to see them on some cool layouts!

My good friend Cheryl surprised me with the Arte y Pico award this week. As is tradition, I will pass the award along to other creative souls who share their art with the greater population by blogging. I hereby award Lauren, Jen, Stef and Kjirsten this award. Now go check out their stuff!

Appliances and Applause

My laundry woes continue. I am still without a working washer and dryer. They were delivered today but without adequate hoses. So several hours of phone calls later I am on a waiting list for delivery and service...AGAIN. Anybody want to do my laundry?

The good news today came from Dawn Gehring at Crafts 'n Things magazine. She wants to publish my two very favorite Christmas cards in their December 2008 issue. Yay!

Happy Valentine's Day

What a huge surprise! Scott is working in Puerto Rico again this week, and yesterday he sent my absolute favorite flowers for Valentine's Day complete with a tender note.

This is the card that I tucked into his suitcase for him to find in Puerto Rico. It uses this week's sketch from Di Hickman's blog. It turned out to be one of my favorite cards ever. And for as many cards as I make, that means something! Details for the card can be found here.

He won't be home until very late tonight, but we are having a Valentine dinner with the kids and my inlaws complete with a heart-shaped cake. Have a very special day with someone you love!
