Karen Foster Design: Season's Greetings

It's time to start thinking about holiday cards, and today I'm sharing one that's published in the latest issue of Crafts 'n Things magazine.

Click here for all the instructions and supplies from Karen Foster Design and others. I used their fun clear stamps, Scrappers Spools, and of course one of my favorite Swirl Burst Brads. They are an absolute must-have!! I stamped Santa's beard and the fuzzy parts of his hat onto felt and even fashioned tiny wire glasses for him. This Santa is detailed! The whole thing is layered onto a card I made using (another favorite) Core'dinations cardstock. I hope you enjoy my first peek at holiday scrapping.

My Mane Man

Here it is, the long-awaited Zutter idea book! We first found out that Matthew's Halloween 2007 mini album was going to be included in this publication nearly a year ago. It wasn't until January 2009 that we found out he was going to be on the cover!

He loves looking at "his book" and pointing it out when we see it in stores. No pressure for Mom, huh?

CardMaps Design

The fabulous Becky Fleck has released her March set of PageMaps, go see! I was lucky to be able to design for one of the new CardMaps this month (shown above). Details for this card are here.

I was tickled to see a gorgeous card from my pal and fellow Caardvarks designer Stef right next to mine. (I keep telling Stef that when I grow up as a stamper I want to be her, but she just giggles at me.) This card also kicked off a little obsession of mine with the spiral journaling notebooks from Making Memories. The last few cards that I have made this week use sheets from these cool little books. What's your latest scrappy obsession?

Creative Concepts - First Quarter 2009

It's sharing time again! Here are some cards that I had published in the 1st Quarter issue of Hobby Lobby's Stamping, Stationery and Scrapbooking Magazine. If you haven't picked up a copy of this magazine, you are really missing out. For only $3 you get dozens of great cards, scrapbook pages and altered projects from a variety of designers. Check it out!

My first card is a birthday card with one of my favorite lines from Making Memories: 5th Ave. Sophia. It was my first time playing with Maya Road sheers on this also. Details are here.

This card was actually created for a Caardvarks challenge with Becky Fleck. Fans of my work (or at least people who tease me the most) will notice my gratuitous use of fibers, thank you very much. Details are here.

For this card I went a little old school. I used Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE) with Pearl Ex powders and made my own snowflake embellishment. Details are here.

My final card was made during the finalist phase for the Purple Onion Designs DT call. I stamped the hearts and embossed with white powder. Then I used watercolor paints to create the swirly, soft background colors. Remember that you can click on each page to get a closer peek. Thanks for looking!

Zutter Bind It All Around the World

Well lookie here! See that red arrow pointing to a really cute mini album? That's MINE! Zutter is publishing a brand new book of ideas for the Bind It All that's being launched at CHA in Anaheim. My album was chosen for publication several months ago, but I only found out this week that it made it onto the cover. This is only the second time that a project of mine has been featured on the cover of any publication, so I'm pretty excited. Just wanted to share my happy news!

Publication Catch Up

Time to play catch up! I had some publications in late 2008 that I never got to share, so here they are. First up is the December 2008 issue of Crafts 'n Things magazine. I had five cards in this issue, all on the same page! Click the image below for a closer look.

What's even cooler is that all five of these projects are available as step-by-step instructions online! Just click the name of the card you want to view, and the instructions will open as PDF files. You may need to reduce the images for easier viewing.

I also had four cards in Volume 11 of Just Cards! magazine. They are scattered throughout the magazine, so I'm going to skip all the scans. I didn't even know I was in this issue until a friend pointed it out to me. The magazine editorial staff accidentally left my name off of the list for mailing, so this publication came as a nice surprise!

Creative Concepts - Fourth Quarter 2008

Sharing time again! Here are the projects that I had published in the Fourth Quarter 2008 issue of Creative Concept's magazine, available at Hobby Lobby stores. Click on each photo for a closer look!

This "Boo Bag" started as a clearance paper mache bag and ended as a fun treat holder or decoration. Here's a little shout out to my bud Di Hickman who's on the same page with me! ♥

I experimented with flocking several months ago, and this card was one of my examples. The holly paper came pre-flocked, so they matched up perfectly. Lots more projects are on the way!

Cards Magazine - August 2008

Today I'm just catching up with sharing a recent publication with you. This card was published in the August 2008 issue of Cards magazine. It was a card that I made on a crop weekend with some dear friends. I just love how this magazine photographs the projects they publish - it only enhances the overall design in my opinion. Click the image for a closer peek. Thanks for looking. ♥

Cards Magazine - June 2008

I finally landed a publication with Cards magazine. As a long-time cardmaker, this was a little dream of mine. I made a batch of Father's Day cards for some DT work with Scrapbooker Online, and I saved one to sub. They took the card shown below which I really loved. Click for a closer look.

The little metal hammer came in a RAK from another site nearly a year ago. I was thankful for its simple charm when I assembled the card. I love how the editors also displayed the card on a workbench of tools, very clever! I was finally able to give this to my husband for Father's Day, just a little late. Details for this card are here.

Just Cards! Summer 2008

Just a quick post with a little "hooray!" What a surprise to get this copy of Volume 10 (Summer 2008) Just Cards! magazine. I submitted a bunch of cards several months ago and was tickled to find that seven of them ended up in this issue! Whohoo!
