A Very Purple Christmas

I'm not usually one for non-traditional Christmas colors, but this card has me gaga for purple! It was made for my best pal Cheryl of Purple Bow Crafts fame. I used three types of Core'dinations cardstock including Cosmo Cricket Naturals, Vintage and my very favorite Black Magic.

I stamped the background using embossing ink and myStampBOX's Winter Flakes set covered with pale green Pearl Ex powder. The purple sentiment is from the Straightforward set which, in my opinion, is a must-have for any cardmaker.

The ornament is from the Deck the Halls set - embossed with silver glitter Zing! powder, embellished with a Maya Road crystal pin and finished with silver ribbon I recycled from a birthday gift. In the end I think this is one of my favorite Christmas cards ever!

The card was made to accompany a gift I made for my friend Cheryl that was inspired by this post from my stamping pal Stef. I decided to make my own version of this awesome Christmas wreath with yarn balls featuring Cheryl's favorite color (purple) with touches of white, silver and aqua. Here's how mine turned out:

Isn't that fun? I'm hoping that Cheryl will hang this in her craft loft and enjoy the sparkly goodness well into the new year. Our husbands say that we must have been separated at birth because we share a brain (which both delights us AND terrifies them.) I just want her to know how much she means to me and my entire family. She is the best!

Merry Christmas, Cheryl!!

myStampBOX: Butterfly Birthday

Now that we're in the full holiday swing, I have been crafting with fall and Christmas colors mostly. I needed a birthday card this week and decided to pull out some old Basic Grey papers from my stash and embrace a fresher, spring-like color palette just for fun. The butterflies my myStampBOX Colorful Companions set were inked with multiple colors of Tim Holtz Distress Inks then sprayed with a Mini Mister of Perfect Pearls water for subtle shimmer. I wish photos could show how pretty it is! The sentiment is from the Straightforward set. So if you have an occasion that needs a card such as a birthday or thank you, don't get too tied up with the colors around you.

Don't forget our 12 Days of Christmas myStampBOX event starting on Wednesday December 1st. The details are posted at the top of my blog!

Scrapbook {Express}ions: Gettin' Krafty!

It's challenge day at the Scrapbook {Express}ions blog, and it's all about using kraft. Come play along!

I used three sets of myStampBOX stamps on this layout. I used the a ring from Funky Circles to circle some words on the background paper. I used the arrow from Road Trip to point out the circled text and an important photo. I also used the Mini Alpha set to help journal some of the details about the photos. This might be my most-used set of alphabet stamps from myStampBOX - they are so great!

Come play along at Scrapbook Express. Our monthly prize is a store gift certificate, and who wouldn't want to win that? Happy scrapping!

myStampBOX: Card Inspiration

Fellow myStampBOX design team member Tracey Taylor recently posted this super cute card using products from our partner companies Kiki Art and Helmar. I knew that I needed a birthday card for a little girl we know, so I decided to put my own spin on this card.

I chose a different girl and hot air balloon from the Kiki Art paper and handstamped the greeting using the Lines of Life set of myStampBOX stamps. I loved Tracey's idea of adding stamped clouds to the card to match the background paper, so I decided to add a bit more texture. I adhered white felt to white cardstock and stamped some clouds from Wishing You Sunshine onto the cardstock backing. I handcut the clouds and adhered them to the card front, layering the hot air balloon over the top. I love how this card turned out, and the birthday girl loved it, too. Inspiration is everywhere, just keep your eyes open!

Scrapbook {Express}ions: Cork Project

Today's my project day at the Scrapbook {Express}ions blog. I made this super cute door hanger for my son Matthew. We have been talking about privacy and how it's appropriate to knock if a door is closed, so this punny "whoo's there?" sentiment is perfect as a reminder. Check out the blog for all the step by step photos and the supply list.
Have a great day!
