myStampBOX: Crepe Tutorial Pt. 1

Here's a fun tutorial for creating custom crepe paper ribbon embellishments with myStampBOX stamps. Vintage items are all the rage in scrapbooking, and this is a fun and easy way to get that look.

My inspiration came from a package of preprinted crepe ribbon by Tattered Angels.

I chose StazOn ink for this project so that I could ink or spray mist over my stamped images later if I wanted to without the ink running or smearing. I also used regular crepe paper streamer from a party supply store.

I lined up my chosen leaf and branch stamps from the Abundant Blossoms set from myStampBOX and placed them on one acrylic block. I used a length of white crepe paper that was roughly triple the size of my finished product just to make sure I had enough to gather and crumple. I stamped my images over and over down the length of the crepe paper until the entire strip was complete.

I trimmed a 1/2" strip of cardstock that matched the base color of my crepe paper so it would blend in. I ran my tape runner along the length of the strip to make it sticky then attached the stamped crepe paper, gathering and pleating randomly as I went.

Here's the finished strip. These are fun to adhere to cards, layouts or altered items. To attach to your project, simply add adhesive to the cardstock strip and gently press it down. You can trim the ends to fit or wrap the loose edges around your project.

Here's another look at the finished project. I adhered my crepe paper ribbon to the front of my card and trimmed it to fit. I love the elegant look of black and white with My Mind's Eye's Meadowlark collection. I finished up the card with a sentiment from the Lines of Life stamps from myStampBOX.

Stay tuned for a follow-up post with another idea for using stamped crepe paper on your crafting projects. Happy stamping!
