Caardvarks Reader Weekend: Coming Soon!

We're celebrating May Day weekend, May 1-3rd, by spotlighting our readers. We'll showcase reader cards and projects all weekend long. Think of it as a great big show -n- tell event to thank you, our readers, for your support and participation for the past two years. Your submissions will be published at Caardvarks!

If you'd like to be included in our mega-posting Reader Weekend, please email us with a card, project, or unique technique idea. If you'd like to create something new for the event, that rocks, but it's not necessary. We'll choose gobs of items to highlight throughout the weekend.

Email: Caardvarks@Yahoo.Com with your entries
by Saturday, April 29th at midnight PST.

* Photos should be between 100 - 200kb and photographed well
* Provide a brief description and/or directions for creating your item
* Provide a link to your blog, website or gallery, and provide your name

Be sure to check back all weekend long for tons of eye candy. See you there!

Trees a Crowd

It's challenge day at Caardvarks! Create a *NEW* tree-themed card and link us to it using Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post by Midnight on April 30th, PST. Be sure to link us *directly* to your blog post or gallery card. The prize for this challenge is a brand new set of their stamps called (appropriately) Branching Out by Taylored Expressions. Need some inspiration? Check out the amazing tree-themed Caards & More projects by Mel and Nathalia and all the tree cards by the Varks Crew. Good luck - we can't wait to see your entries!

Here's my card for this challenge. The tree was cut with the Stretch Your Imagination Cricut cartridge from Core'dinations cardstock. I scored the tree trunk with the back end of a small paint brush and sanded to bring out the faux wood grain. The leaves, bushes and grass were cut from two colors of felt for a little softness. Details for this card are here.

Also check out the details for our upcoming Reader Weekend when we are shining the spotlight on YOU!

Hippity Hop - my Stamp BOX Blog Hop

If you're here for the my Stamp BOX blog hop,
you're in the right place!

Did you start at the beginning? If not, click back and visit all the DT blogs in order and leave comments at each one to be eligible to win a my Stamp BOX set of your choice!

Today I am featuring the Neighborhoods set of stamps from my Stamp Box. This set has four distinct skylines and three fun sentiments to add to your projects. Take a look at two!

I had such a good time coloring and blending with Gamsol for this farm scene. I also used some rustic papers from Daisy D's French Market collection and some jute for texture. I can almost smell the fresh air and homemade pie!

And now for something totally opposite, here's a cityscape complete with grunge and sparkle. I used the skyscraper city stamp and grunged it up with Prismacolor pencils once again. (Can you tell that it's my new favorite thing? Thanks, Jen!) Even through all the grunge, the big city never fails to delight with all its sparkle and glitter. I added silver gel pen to some of the buildings and even some Stickles in the sky. Even the background paper and ribbon are sparkly silver.

I hope you give this stamp set a try. It's one of my favorites!

Don't forget! You must go back to the my Stamp BOX blog when you are finished and leave a comment with your first name, last initial and your location in a comment and tell us what your favourite project of the evening was!

Now check out what Lara has in store for you in our blog hop. Enjoy all the creativity!

Here's a layout I did from a recent photo shoot with Ian. Click for a closer look. Details are here. It's featured today on the new Scrapbook {Express}ions blog. It uses the new Gypsy Market line from 7 Gypsies which I am ALL ABOUT. Grunge and more grunge, baby!

Remember to stop back tonight at 8 PM Eastern for the my Stamp BOX blog hop. See you then!
